Getting to APX from Mountain View
About a 15 to 25 minute drive from central Mountain View: north on US-101, off at Willow Road toward the bay to O'Brien Drive in east Menlo Park.
Plenty of Mountain View athletes already build their engine at Shoreline Park and Shoreline Lake, the Stevens Creek Trail and the Permanente Creek Trail. APX Velocity is where they add the strength, stations, and pacing that turn those miles into a HYROX result.
The Mountain View home for hybrid athletes.
For a city at the center of Silicon Valley, Mountain View has surprisingly few options for true hybrid racing — HYROX shows up only as an add-on class at chain studios. Athletes who want the full race format, coached on real sleds and rowers, make the drive up to APX.
APX Velocity is a 5.0-star, DEKA-affiliate gym where coaches line up at HYROX, DEKA, and Spartan events themselves. You train the exact race format on the real equipment, scaled to your level, in a room that pushes you. It's an easy Caltrain-corridor city, but the fastest way to a HYROX PR is 20 minutes north on the 101.

Is there a HYROX gym in Mountain View?
Mountain View has chain studios that run HYROX-branded classes, but no gym built specifically around HYROX and hybrid racing. The nearest dedicated HYROX gym is APX Velocity in Menlo Park, about a 15 to 25 minute drive north on US-101, coaching the full eight-station race format on real equipment. First class free.
How far is APX Velocity from Mountain View?
APX Velocity is roughly 10 to 12 miles from central Mountain View, about a 15 to 25 minute drive depending on US-101 traffic. Head north on US-101 and exit at Willow Road toward east Menlo Park and O'Brien Drive.
What's the difference between a HYROX class and a HYROX gym?
A HYROX class is a single branded workout some chain studios add to their timetable. A HYROX gym like APX Velocity is built around the race: you train all eight stations in order on the actual equipment, with coaches who race HYROX themselves and a running-plus-strength program that gets you to the start line. That's what Mountain View athletes drive up for.
What are the eight HYROX stations, in order?
In order, the eight HYROX stations are: SkiErg (1,000 m), sled push (50 m), sled pull (50 m), burpee broad jumps (80 m), row (1,000 m), farmers carry (200 m), sandbag lunges (100 m), and wall balls (100 reps). Each station follows a 1 km run, and the order never changes from race to race. APX Velocity trains all eight on the real equipment.
How much does HYROX training cost at APX Velocity?
HYROX training at APX Velocity is included in every membership: $96/month for one class per week, $178/month for two, and $225/month for unlimited (each on a six-month commitment). Every plan also includes hybrid fitness, obstacle course training, and the Sunday run club. Your first class is free.
